Lucas here, Unplugged co-captain.
I grew up in a community nestled in nature not but five houses from my childhood best friend— Marsh. Him and I learned from a young age about bikes, bending gender norms, and that life is more fun when not taken too seriously.
Athletic pursuits eventually led us astray until 2016 when a camping trip re-ignited our dynamic duo. We sipped cowboy coffee in the mountains and reconnected explosively over shared interests in public health, connection to wild spaces, and the bicycle. We ideated and dreamed and yearned to launch our passion project into the world but lacked the confidence to do so. Unbeknownst to us, this trip changed that… the seeds for Unplugged had just been planted.
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best is right now.” — Buddhist Proverb
Ten years later the seeds have since germinated and continue to blossom in ways we never expected. We host dance parties, four-square tourneys, 100-mile desert bike missions, wellness adventures, corporate team building events, mindfulness workshops, community potlucks, games of capture the flag, singing nights and— what we’re most proud of— we build real community right here in our home of Salt Lake City, UT.
Our methodology is simple, obvious, and draws upon a blend of neuroscience, my Master’s degree in Education, stoicism, coaching best-practices, play, mindfulness and the primordial wisdom that lives within us all.
Unplugged is about time well-spent, movement in nature, connection, slowing down, growth, community, and perhaps most important… FUN. I’m proud to say it’s in alignment with my Ikigai.
I hope to continue to help other seekers, curious souls, and connection connoisseurs continue to explore their growth edge, stand into their truest essence, and pursue passion projects in this one wild and precious life of ours.In the face of AI, hyper-speed dopamine culture, and a rising oligarchy, we stand firmly in the camp of human and know that our work is more important now than ever before.
We’re here if you ever need. Hit us up. Or join our growing community of curious souls.
As always, play on players.
